Dashwall
For Android Your Home Assistant dashboard on the wall, full screen.
Dashwall is an Android app for a tablet on the wall. It shows your Home Assistant dashboard full screen and keeps it there: it starts by itself, recovers by itself when something goes wrong, and lets Home Assistant wake the screen, all over your own network.
What it does
- Shows one dashboard, full screen. Android's status and navigation bars are hidden. Kiosk mode also hides Home Assistant's top bar and side menu, on the tablet only: other browsers show the dashboard as usual. Page zoom works the same way as in the Home Assistant app.
- Becomes the tablet's Home app. It starts after a restart, and the Home button leads back to it. When the screen goes off while another app is open, the dashboard comes back.
- Recovers by itself. It tries again when the dashboard cannot load, reloads when the connection to Home Assistant stays lost, for example after Home Assistant restarts, and comes back after Wi-Fi drops and after the page crashes.
- Logs in by itself, if you want. Give it a Home Assistant user and it logs in to the dashboard whenever Home Assistant shows its login page. This does not work for accounts with two-factor authentication; you then log in on the tablet once.
- Keeps its settings to itself. The settings open when you hold a corner of the screen for 3 seconds, behind a PIN if you set one.
With Home Assistant
The free Dashwall integration for Home Assistant, installed through HACS, finds the tablet on your network by itself. Pairing finishes once the tablet's dashboard is logged in to that Home Assistant, so only someone who can log in can pair a tablet. After that, Home Assistant can:
- wake the screen from an automation, for example on motion or when the doorbell rings;
- reload the dashboard, and change the page zoom, the dashboard address and kiosk mode;
- follow the screen, the dashboard connection, the battery level, charging, battery temperature and more, with the same battery values as the Home Assistant app.
Every command is signed with a key agreed during pairing. No cloud service, no MQTT broker and no Companion app is needed.
Free and premium
The free version does everything, with no time limit, and shows a watermark on the screen that says it is the free trial. Premium is a one-time purchase, with no subscription, and removes the watermark. Google Play confirms Premium on the tablet, so the tablet needs internet at least once a week to keep the watermark away. All languages are free.
Our refund promise: 14-day refund, no questions asked; one per Google account. Press Request a refund in the app, any time within 14 days of buying. Refunds are approved by a person, normally within 2 working days, and the money comes back through Google Play.
Good to know
- Dashwall needs Android 8.0 or newer and your own Home Assistant. The integration needs Home Assistant 2025.3 or newer.
- Android's own screen timeout still switches the screen off; Home Assistant wakes it again.
- For the most reliable wake, set the tablet's battery use for Dashwall to unrestricted. The settings screen has a button for that.
- Everything the app keeps stays on the tablet, with your Home Assistant password encrypted. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. The privacy policy explains it in full.
- Dashwall is not affiliated with Home Assistant or Nabu Casa.
