Business Hours is an Android app for people who carry a business SIM next to their personal one. You decide when your business line is open. While you're closed, the app keeps the business line quiet, so evenings and weekends stay yours.

What it does

  • Declines business calls while you're closed. Callers hear a busy tone, or your voicemail if you prefer. Calls to your personal SIM ring as normal.
  • Keeps messages quiet while you're closed. Messages still arrive, silently, so nothing is lost overnight. This works through an Android Mode, so it applies to message notifications on the whole phone.
  • Forwards unanswered calls while you're open. Calls you don't answer can go to a forwarding number, such as a colleague or an answering service. A forwarding assistant sets this up with your mobile carrier and checks that declined calls are not forwarded.
  • Knows your holidays. Public holidays for the countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom and Iceland are built in, and you can add closure days of your own.
  • VIP numbers. Calls from the numbers you choose always ring, also while you're closed.
  • Shows what it did. A list of declined calls, and a health check that tells you when something would stop the app from working.

Free and Pro

The free version is for short use and for getting to know the app. There is no schedule: you tap "Close now" or "Open now" in the app or in Quick Settings, and the line stays that way until you tap the other. It includes the health check, a test call, a 7-day list of declined calls and a check of your carrier's forwarding settings.

Pro is a one-time purchase, with no subscription. It adds:

  • weekly opening hours, with several blocks a day for breaks and split shifts;
  • public holidays, your own closure days and special hours;
  • timed changes, such as "open for 1 hour" or "closed until 3 January";
  • VIP numbers and an option to let repeat callers through;
  • the forwarding assistant, which sets and changes forwarding with your carrier, and a strict mode that switches forwarding off while you're closed;
  • a list of declined calls kept for a year, with search and export;
  • a backup of your settings to a file.

Good to know

  • Business Hours needs Android 12 or newer and a phone with a SIM.
  • Calls through WhatsApp, Teams and other internet apps are not screened.
  • Everything the app keeps stays on your phone. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. The privacy policy explains it in full.
